PRESS INFORMATION SYSTEM FOR LANDFILL AND CO.LA.RI.: technical and economic aspects

Today we present the second part of the statement of the meeting information on landfill Inviolata held Wednesday, 10/03/2010 at the center of old Santa. As anticipated, today announced that summarizes the technical aspects of the imposition of compensa CO.LA.RI Snoriguzzi expressed by Mauro and Stephen Rogge.

For completeness, also report that Claudio Bucci, President of the Lazio Region Health Board, in a brief speech expressed the hope that "The new Air Plan for the Lazio Region" could actually be used to block the project CO.LA .
RI
technical and economic aspects

Here are the salient points explained by the Legambiente Guidonia:
• The installation of mechanical-biological "in landfill operating mouth "(so we read on page. 90 of the Environmental Impact Assessment pending) which means, whatever people may say, the maintenance of the landfill for another 28 years.
• Essentially such a system separates a dirty green part, made up of organic material is not usable, and materials for eco-bales, fuel or RDF.
• The project includes a plant on an area of \u200b\u200b30 hectares, which can process 190,000 tons of waste (on pg. 46 of the Technical Report will show 600 T / day), with the production of at least 46,000 tonnes of refuse derived fuel (CDR), as well as an approximate altitude of 4,000 tons of ferrous metals recovered and a "residue", then, no less than 140,000 tons, including stabilized organic fraction (SOF), currently destined for landfill and waste itself. So about 60% of the treated waste ends up in landfills.
• The system then retrieves only a bit 'of energy at very high cost, 5% of metals and employs only 30 people held in the year.
• Currently, it seems that even under two distinct and separate facilities, for a total of 690 t of waste treated per day.
• According to what is allowed now, the maximum height from 147 meters above sea level is flooded, while the maximum volume of 3,820,000 cubic meters (we are currently almost to saturation).
• The fifth is the reservoir filling the first four reservoirs. •
are 300,000 inhabitants (47 municipalities) that send the garbage at the landfill.

clear that the CDR is a fuel obtained from the dry component (paper, plastics, textile fibers, etc..) Municipal waste, after a proper treatment of separation and purification from other materials such as glass, metals and aggregates. The CDR has the following average composition: 44% paper, 23% plastics, 12% textile waste, wood waste 4.5%, 14% organic decay and 2.5% inert.

Economic aspects that a plant of this size would have on our pockets''''
• 38 million euro for the construction,
• 16 million € / year for management,
• For a total of about 600 € in 28 years.

To better understand why this plant is uneconomic, just think that to organize the collection in the province of Rome would be enough for 14 million euro per year and 3 years would be enough to get up to speed.
